Welcome to my new security blog! In this first* post, I welcome you to my new website

It's been a while since my last time posting. A lot has happened since then and I have been very busy. Since my last post, I found an interesting job posting with a company that I had been following.

When I moved and then took a job in help desk, I was not sure if I was going to be able to keep up with the course work necessary to take the OSCP.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, many of my friends would go hunting the days leading up to Thanksgiving. I had always wanted to go, however my family was not big on hunting.

During my time learning about cyber security, I have taken many different classes. My favorite courses thus far have been with John Strand from Black Hills Info Sec.

Well its been a minute since I last posted. Let me tell you, I was a little bit overzealous in my ambitions and goals.

The other day I was on LinkedIn looking for jobs and reading cyber security news and something came across my feed that made me stop scrolling.

Since passing my Sec+, I have been keeping busy with a multitude of things. I was able to go up and see family, shortly after passing my exam.

This past week, I took and passed the CompTIA Security + (SYO601) certification exam. Getting there wasn't the easiest and definitely had some bumps along the way.

On my journey into cybersecurity, the website TryHackMe has been one of my greatest allies. It was one of the first resources I used to grow my knowledge in the field of cybersecurity.

I started my first class today, and it felt wonderful. Wow. those are some words I never thought would come out of my mouth.

Today I completed the Daily Bugle room as part of the Offensive Pentesting Learning Path on TryHackMe.com. I was given an IP address for the box after activating the box.

This week is going to be key for my start as a cyber security professional. I am working on finalizing my education plans this week.

So this is supposed to be a technical blog, yet here I am and haven't written much about my actual progress towards working in Cyber Security.

The hardest part for me of being unemployed is the creeping feelings of self doubt that haunt the corners of my mind.

I came across this saying and the story behind it while reading more about CS. When I read the story about its origin it really clicked with me.

I am doing this blog to give back to the cyber security community in my own way. I plan on chronicling my journey into a career in cybersecurity.

I have been attempting to write this first post for quite some time now. It's been about three weeks since my time at Comcast has come to a close.
